W ramach 2. edycji miejskiego festiwalu Sztuka do rzeczy – design w Krakowie poświęconego przemysłom kreatywnym, Fundacja Photon zorganizowała prezentację interaktywnej instalacji TOUCH ME greckiego artysty i projektanta Yiannisa Kranidiotisa.

Designerskich przedmiotów i dzieł sztuki zwykle dotykać nie wolno. Rzeźba TOUCH ME przeciwnie – zaprasza do jej dotknięcia, podkreślając, że bezpośredni kontakt w sztuce użytkowej jest kluczowy. Instalacja greckiego artysty i projektanta Yiannisa Kranidiotisa nawiązuje do starożytnych bożków Cyklad – czarna głowa stoi na postumencie, jak pozaziemski, obcy gość, czekając na spotkanie z człowiekiem. W momencie kontaktu rzeźba ożywa i w odpowiedzi na dotyk emituje poprzez setki światłowodów różnobarwne światło, kolor zależy od intensywności dotyku. Jednocześnie słyszalny staje się pejzaż dźwiękowy oparty na ruchach rąk.

TOUCH ME to metafora relacji między człowiekiem a technologią. Poddaje refleksji bariery w interakcji na linii człowiek-maszyna. Prosta interakcja, jak dotyk, jest czasami bardzo trudna do osiągnięcia. Ludzie często wahają się dotknąć obiektów, rzeźb. Kiedy wreszcie to robią, niektórzy czują się niekomfortowo przez reakcję rzeźby, inni czują się oczarowani i zaintrygowani. Powstaje refleksja, jaki mamy stosunek do interakcji człowiek – maszyna w czasach, gdy w codziennym życiu otoczeni jesteśmy mnóstwem interaktywnych urządzeń.

Instalacja była ogólnodostępna w Pawilonie Wyspiańskiego w dniach 30.11-01.12.2019.
Partnerem ekspozycji jest Krakowskie Biuro Festiwalowe.

As part of the 2nd edition of the Sztuka Do Rzeczy – Design festival in Krakow dedicated to creative industries, the Photon Foundation organised a presentation of the interactive installation TOUCH ME of the Greek artist and designer Yiannis Kranidiotis.

Designer objects and works of art are usually not to be touched. On the contrary, TOUCH ME sculpture invites you to touch it, emphasizing that direct contact in applied art is crucial.
The installation of the Greek artist and designer Yiannis Kranidiotis refers to the ancient gods of the Cyclades – the black head stands on the pedestal, like an extraterrestrial alien guest, waiting for a meeting with a man. At the moment of contact, the sculpture comes alive and in response to touch emits through hundreds of optical fibers colored light, the color depends on the intensity of touch. At the same time audible becomes a soundscape based on hand movements.

TOUCH ME is a metaphor for the relationship between man and technology. Reflects on barriers in human-machine interaction. Simple interaction, like touch, is sometimes very difficult to achieve. People often hesitate to touch objects, sculptures. When they finally do this, some feel uncomfortable with the sculpture’s response, others feel charmed and intrigued. A reflection emerges of our relationship to human-machine interaction in times when we are surrounded by a multitude of interactive devices in everyday life.

The installation was available in the Pawilon Wyspiańskiego between 30th Nov and 1st Dec 2019.
The exhibition partner is the Krakowskie Biuro Festiwalowe.
