SOL.AR.IS
mobile art app

_English below

SOL.AR.IS to projekt artystyczny, stworzony przez Fundację Photon w 2020 roku, który przyjął formę aplikacji mobilnej wykorzystującej nowoczesną technologię rozszerzonej rzeczywistości (AR).
Inspirację dla twórczej pracy artystów współtworzących projekt stanowiła powieść science-fiction Stanisława Lema pt. “Solaris”.

Animowane obiekty zaprojektowali artyści obrazowania trójwymiarowego:  Oliver Latta z Niemiec, Yuma Yanagisawa z Japonii, Uwe Rieger i Yinan Liu z Nowej Zelandii oraz Zsolt Laszlo Bordos i Gaspar Battha z Węgier.

Premiera SOL.AR.IS odbyła się podczas otwarcia Festiwalu Sztuki Cyfrowej Patchlab 23 października 2020.
Projekt prezentowany był na wielu międzynarodowych wydarzeniach:

SOL.AR.IS is an art project created by the Photon Foundation in 2020, in the form of a mobile application using innovative augmented reality (AR) technology.
The inspiration for the creative work of the artists co-creating the project was the science-fiction novel entitled „Solaris” written by Stanisław Lem.

SOL.AR.IS is a virtual space in which the spectator has the opportunity to interact in real time with ephemeral, virtual 3D objects inspired by the creations of the cytoplasmic, intelligent ocean that covers the planet Solaris – mimoids, symmetries or asymmetries, fantastic phenomena described in the novel. Animated objects were designed by CGI artists: Oliver Latta from Germany, Yuma Yanagisawa from Japan, Uwe Rieger and Yinan Liu from New Zealand, Zsolt Laszlo Bordos and Gaspar Battha from Hungary. In 2021, the project was enriched with a new, the 6th object, designed by Popesz Csaba Láng as a result of the Creative Scholarship of the City of Krakow financed by the Municipality of Krakow. Ambient soundscapes for each of the objects were composed by the Iranian audiovisual artist Ali Phi.
Each object is accompanied by a quote from Stanisław Lem’s novel, which was an artist’s inspiration for creative work.

Sculptures placed in the AR space can be discovered and viewed in the spectators’ surroundings using a smartphone or tablet with the pre-installed application, by scanning the space e.g. a room, meadow or street. It’s recommended to use headphones.

The premiere of SOL.AR.IS took place during the opening of the Patchlab Digital Art Festival on October 23rd, 2020.
Since then it was presented at the following exhibitions:

Fotonica Audio Visual Digital Art Festival 2021 | 17-24 Nov 2021 | City Lab  971 | Rome, Italy

Athens Digital Art Festival 2021 TACTUS | 13-18 Oct 2021 | Athens, Greece
